Community Guidelines & Acceptable Use
What is and is not allowed on ConnectIRL.
These Community Guidelines and Acceptable Use Policy are part of our Terms of Service and apply to everyone who uses ConnectIRL. They exist to keep the community safe and consent-based. Breaking them can lead to content removal, feature limits, suspension, or permanent removal, and in serious cases we may involve law enforcement.
1. The core rule
ConnectIRL works on consent: people appear only when they choose to be discoverable, and only to others who also signed up. Everything below protects that. Do not use the Service to find, follow, monitor, or contact anyone who has not chosen to be visible to you.
2. Be who you are
- Use your own real identity, name, and photo. Do not impersonate anyone or misrepresent who you are (no catfishing).
- Only share social links that are actually yours.
- You must be 18 or older. Accounts for minors, or that present a minor, are prohibited and will be removed.
3. Respect other people
- No harassment or abuse. No threats, hate speech, bullying, sexual harassment, or repeated unwanted contact — including re-requesting someone who declined, or following a revealed social link to harass them elsewhere.
- No stalking or surveillance. Do not use the Service to track a person's location or movements, to figure out where someone is against their wishes, or to monitor a specific place for a specific person.
- Respect "no." If someone blocks or declines you, do not try to get around it with new accounts or other means.
4. Keep it lawful and appropriate
- No sexually explicit, violent, hateful, harassing, or otherwise unlawful profile content (names, photos, or links).
- No content that exploits or endangers anyone, especially minors. Child sexual abuse material is strictly prohibited and will be reported to authorities and relevant organizations.
- No illegal activity, promotion of illegal goods or services, fraud, or scams.
- No sharing of other users' images or information (for example screenshots) in a way that harms their privacy or safety.
5. Do not abuse the platform
- No scraping or automation. No bots, crawlers, scripts, unofficial APIs, or automated collection of profiles, photos, or data. No reverse engineering and no attempts to circumvent rate limits or security.
- No multiple or fake accounts, account sharing, or ban evasion.
- No location spoofing or feeding false location to the Service.
- No spam or commercial exploitation — no mass or automated connection requests, advertising, promotion, solicitation, or recruitment without our written permission.
- No attempts to disrupt, overload, or compromise the Service or other users' use of it.
6. Reporting and enforcement
- You can block and report any user from every place a person appears in the app. Blocking hides each of you from the other, in both directions.
- We review reports and may remove content, warn, suspend, or permanently remove accounts. Priority is given to reports of underage use, impersonation, and harassment.
- Serious safety concerns may be escalated to law enforcement. If you are in immediate danger, contact local emergency services first.
- To report something outside the app, email safety@connectirl.app.
7. Changes
We may update these Guidelines as the community and the Service evolve. Material changes will be announced as described in our Terms.
